Monday travels

Gifts from a weekend on familiar roads…

2862. The wonderful places I am from.

2869. Sunrise at camp home. Up at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday to help cook breakfast for pheasant hunters on opening day! Tiring but fun.

2863. This messy life. It is challenging and interesting and saturated with joy and beauty. Also it is very funny.

2861. Two huge hawks, airborne right over me on the winding highway. Breathtaking!

2870. Driving into the sunset.

2865. Puss in Boots + Taco Bell + laughing so hard with J on Saturday night.

2868. That I did not have a car in college. Every single time I make the drive across the state, I remember all kinds of crazy, funny moments from carpooling with various friends at all hours of the day or night, in all kinds of weather, while listening to all kinds of music.

2870. A wonderful baby shower, surrounded by the same wonderful women, family and friends that have “always” attended baby showers… only Cherry and I used to be the goofy young girls stuffing our faces, just biding time until the shower was over and we could run around the church… and now she’s the mom to be!

2871. That I have been called to belong.

    • Thank you! Yes, it’s beautiful place. On Friday night at sunset, the clouds/humidity/light were just right so we saw a refraction? Something like that.. where the lights from several small towns that are normally too far away to see, were bounced up and reflected down. It literally looked like there were 3 or 4 towns, right out in the empty fields. Really cool! Have you ever noticed anything like that?

  1. Crazy how time changes things, huh!?!? You described us very well. Though, I think I still stuffed my face at my own baby shower. 🙂 But I didn’t get to eat again till almost noon the next day, so it all worked out.
